Took on the deep Blue yesterday, and because of the sudden increase in water temps, a lot of Blue Bottles came in with the Agulhas Current.. What was interesting is that all these individual Blue Bottles had very (max 40mm) small Flying Fish seeking protection, but only 01 fish at every Blue Bottle.... Pic is not nice as the cellphone did not want to focus thru the water glare, nonetheless, I got a few shots... the other small fish were just hanging around the boat...

cellphone - seawater
not a good combo.
reason why I lost my previous phone.

Man-of-war fish, Nomeus grovonii. Usually see them around/inside big jellyfish. Once saw a big jelly with about 20 around it.

Go for Nokia, they seem to last :tt2: . I have the N8 permanently on the boat for pics and Communication if needed, sort of the "boat phone"

thanks Lord Blackadder. Nice to know you always here for correct id and info.Gonna ask(instruct...lol) the bosses to give you a direct line and badge for us id seeking guys...

Hmm, doubt they'd survive long. They eat jellies/bluebottles in the wild. I haven't tried them myself. I suspect that @richardmatlock has.

Although they are VERY pretty, they are true pelagic fish and cannot cope with a glass box or rocks. I've kept them before with blue bottles and found that they eventually got taken out by the blue bottles as their protective slime was being scraped off their skins every time they bumped a rock/glass pane. They also rarely eat dead food and prefer small live plaktonic crustaceans IME.

@Lord_Blackadder is it not Flying fish??? They do look like the Flying fish I normally see

Here's one of my pics of a similar sized common flying fish as a comparison...
