Real Reef Rock only grows the basic building blocks to start a modern marine aquarium. Nitrifying Bacteria, Micro algaes and some Coraline algaes. Real Reef rock does not need to be cured, but requires to be cycled upon arrival for a minimum of 3 weeks. This will ensure that the biology of the rock is rehabilitated after shipping, to be sold as a Bio-Active live cultured rock. Real Reef Rock will cycle a tank, but is no replacement for established rock in an existing aquarium of some age. It will cycle a brand new aquarium, but will not handle an existing bio load of an established tank immediately. Changing your Aquarium over to Real Reef will be like starting a new tank again. It just works faster with better long term results than wild rock. Most of all it doesn't come with hitchhiking nuisance pests. Most find the extra effort was worth it long term. I hope this has helped? If you want to change over to Real Reef Rock in an existing aquarium a gradual change is always advised.
