    Hi Guys
Ok so I'm really excited about my new system the idea behind the tank is that it is not very big but want to spend some money on making it fairly self sufficient (as self sufficient as a marine tank can be) the reason being is that I have to travel a lot for work these days, so need a few basic things on the tank to be controlled on its own. luckily I only travel for two to three days at a time so the tank wont have time to become neglected. Any way here goes:

Tank: 60cm cube Total volume of tank with sump will be about 400L

    Sump: 1x 60cm (refugium) 1x 90cm (Skimmer, heaters, etc.)

    Filtration: Refugium, Seachem Matrix, Skimmer
The system will be run so that in the start the refugium will be part of the filter system then if I decide to run a ULN system I will use NP Bio pellets and then run the refugium seperate (In the fear that it might die off in a ULN system)

    Skimmer: Reef Octopus OCTX-160

    Lighting: Giesemann Infinity 600mm (1x MH 2x T5)

    Water Movement: Vortech MP10w ES

    Controller: Profilux 3
The profilux 3 will have the following running off it
    - Dosing Pumps
    - Touch Screen Face
    - Lighting
    - Auto Top Up
    - Measuring Probes (PH, Temp, etc. etc.)
    - Pumps
    - Water change system
    - SMS Unit
    - etc.

If there is anything about the system you would like to know please feel free to ask.
Waiting on a few things to arrive with the tank but have some pics of the stand, skimmer, etc. Then just some pics off the net of the toys
    Pics to follow

This is going to look smart when it's done. I like the idea of going smaller but buying quality equipment! Is that crushed coral substrate? When do intend filling the tank up? Even I'm excited!;)

    Update

Ok so my update is mixed news
    The good news:
    1. Managed to put in the shelf and did all the doors and side for the cabinet
    2. Did all the plumbing
    3. Recieved my light unit (WOW WOW WOW) and got my vortech pump as well

    The bad news:
    1. The sump system I had intially planned is not going to work, so now have to have a new sump made and really need to find someone who can do it before the weekend as I would like to fill this weekend.

Will post pics toni9ght of the progress made so far.

i was looking forward to seeing what you had planned in terms of the sump ......

    what is your plan?

DIY'ing a sump is alway an option for a custom build .... its a lot easier than you may think

The sump system I had was just becoming way to complcated and a mess actually, so I have thought about it and want to go with a far simpler more neat sump set up.
The plan is to have a 120cm(L)x45cm(W)x34cm(H) sump, with the following compartments.
Compartment 1: 45cm(L) will be the down pipe from the tank plus the skimmer and NP Bio Pellet Reactor.
Compartment 2: 45cm(L) will be the Fuge (will probably be a LR fuge system as the pellets and algea will not work together)
Compartment 3: 10cm(L) will be a small compartment where the Seachem Matrix will sit.
Compartment 4: 20cm(L) will be for the return pump, heaters, etc.

So my new sump will take up the whole of the bottom of the stand and then the small shelf (In the pics above where the one part of my previous sump system would have been) will be for a automatic top up and a shelf for chemicals, food, etc.
I wish I had the time to DIY myown sump otherwise I would def do it myself
