Reaper's Nano tank

You're sharp @TaahirS - don't miss a thing they...

I have the 2 ocelaris, 2 antheas, 1 yellow wrasse and 1 lawmower blenny. I also have the carpet anemone (which I'm selling again, too big for the tank) and a hammer coral. Getting some zoa frags and a red monti frag this weekend. Checking water params daily before I add anything

Lol:lol:

Just remember to take things slowly, the tank has only been running for a few weeks. I don't think you can add many more fish. I have one fish in 4 months:m33:. Lol, that's far too slow I know but only bad things happen quickly.;)

Hahaha, yeah I know. I'm basically done for now. I'm only going to add some bangai's and a mandarin still, oh and a midas blenny and a fire / purple goby. But those I'm waiting for till the tank is running a few months.

I have been dosing Microbe-Lift Special Blend, and no3 po4-x - and those two I believe is working great together to keep the params in check. So by the time I have a fully functioning LR refugium, I'll add the rest of the live stock.

OK so here's an update:

I have sourced a small sump. For some reason someone used mirrors as dividers in it, so I'll be removing the mirrors and replacing it with glass panels. A friend is currently building me a stand out of 25mm square tubing, so as soon as that's done, I'll be adding pics of the progress.

Then I'll have to slap on some anti rust paint, get some marine ply for the stand's surfaces, get the plumbing done and get a return pump. All that's left then is to move the skimmer downstairs, get more LR for the refugium, get some chaeto, and add the LED's to the DT canopy.

Can't wait to get it going... :)

So, I have confirmation from my bud that he'll have the stand ready by the weekend, so Saturday or Sunday is operation move the tank.

Here's what I bought to get it all in working order:

Pipe fittings, pipes, return pump (not too big, it's still a nano  ), anti rust paint.

OK, so I decided not to add proper 20,000k LED's to the tank seeing as there's already enough light for the corals in there. I simply went and bought normal LED strip lights and some other LED units and added them to the canopy. There's a slight difference in the clarity of the water, so I'm happy for now.

Then I also started doing the sump. First had to remove the dividers (the guy who used the sump before had mirrors as dividers), then had some glass cut, only to see when I got home the stupid PG Glass guy cut it too big... So will only be able to silicone them in tomorrow.

Here's the mirror I had to remove:

@Reaper Nice update, looking forward to seeing it all installed. Out of interest, where did you purchase the LED strips? Also, can you connect them directly up to the mains, or are you running them through a converter?

@ChristopherM - they are giving a little bit better and crisper light - I just weighed my options between paying R160 for these 2 sets of LED's, versus the 20,000k rated blue ones quoted by LFS for just under R600 (and then it's only for 30cm). My current strips adds up to a meter in length.

I bought them from ACDC in Bellville (Stikland). Guy was really helpful, and gave me 35% discount... Not sure why, maybe 'cause he liked my shoes :lol:

Oh sorry, forgot to say: I used an old Motorola (not cell phone - radio) charging transformer I had laying around to connect them. Reduces the voltage down from 240v to 12v, and gives an 300mA output, more than those hectic expensive transformers they sell with the lights.

@Reaper That's what I was getting at, whether it was a LFS or Electronic Store. I went to Communica in the CBD a few months ago to get some items and whilst I was there I looked at the LEDs, control boxes and so forth. It's definitely the way to go imo so big ups.

I've got a Juwel 120 which comes with T5's, I think 2 x 24w and I'm not sure that it'll be enough light for coral so I'm thinking of supplementing with some LEDs and hence the questions :)

@Reaper and @Jason - good to know that there are more reefers in Brackenfell/Kuilsriver area! I'm new into this hobby and recently upgraded to a bigger tank! Maybe someone can pop in one day to check out my setup and give me some pointers..
