Close to 30...? Dude, those days I used to......... oh wait, I can't remember those day, too much alcohol lol

I'm close to 40, probably needed a new set of kidneys and a liver a couple of years ago already lol

Naah, it's not really that bad - only on a rally

Yeah, I got old to soon...

Here's a quick update:

Here's the temp from today's heat:

And here's my quick solution - it's a notepad cooling fan bought from a local tech store for 120 bucks, and it works with a regular usb charging adapter. Want to build it into the canopy still.

A pic of my ATU tank, just a 20 liter canister, works like a charm.

And lastly a pic of the system so far, yes, I need some more LR, AND LIVE STOCK lol

It's looking cool..

Im about 2 weeks into my cycle with my first tl550 too...

I like the ATU... Hows it work?

Sorry for only getting back to you now @ChrisP

Here's some pics of how the ATU works

This is a 20 litre container with the small water pump in:

Here is the pipe leading from the RO water tank to the "sump" of my Boyu

And this is the ATU's float switch, as soon as the water level drops below the swith, it activates the pump, and the water is filled to the selected level again.

I did a quick test of my water params again last night:

Ph: Down from 8.4 to 8
Kh: Stable at 7.5
Nitrate: Down from 5 to 1
Nitrite: Down from 0.3 to 0.2
Ammonia: Down from 0.2 to 0.1

So all the params is looking real good

I am more or less in the same region as I started my tank at about the same time. Will get waters tested today/tomorrow to see where I'm at. Good to see the toxic levels coming down!

I like the ATU. It's simple and efficient. I'd like to do something similar.

I also used pc fans to try and stabilise water temps at 25 but soon realised that evaporation shot through the roof. With the lid closed and lights on I have my heater on just below 26 and it maintains 27 deg celsius.. Even through all this cold weather and rain :)

Hows your salinity?

What do you think caused the drop in ph?

P.S. what is the size of the pump in the ATU? How many LP/h? Cause I got a dolphin 300LP/h and it can't even push the water out of the container ha ha ha...

Yeah when you use fans to cool off the water, evaporation will increase quite a bit, hence why I installed the ATU. My pump is only a little 200l/h pump. it pushes the water easily up. Remember, it only needs to push a small amount, so even if the pump struggles a bit, it should be fine. You can add a larger pump to suit your needs (depending on how low your reservoir is placed in relation to the tank - mine is the same level, hence the small pump), it'll only pump for a small burst to get the water level right again. Space is an issue in the TL550's, so get the smallest unit you can find.

With regards to the Ph, I used tap water with SeaChem's Prime for the initial startup of the tank, which wasn't ideal, seeing as the prime never really takes out all the crap of tap water. I did a water change with RO thereafter, so I think it must be the reason for the drop. I also used Microbe-Lift's Special Blend to get the bacteria going in the tank.

Salinity is stable at 1.024, right at the mark for lps and sps.

You're sharp @TaahirS - don't miss a thing they...

I have the 2 ocelaris, 2 antheas, 1 yellow wrasse and 1 lawmower blenny. I also have the carpet anemone (which I'm selling again, too big for the tank) and a hammer coral. Getting some zoa frags and a red monti frag this weekend. Checking water params daily before I add anything
