Now, for something completely DIFFERENT! ;)

Oh NO all in this pic are a bit HOT - see the starfish upward pointed legs - hey jacuesb I thought no naughty pics on this site! Your starfish needs to "cool down" bro

Ok "inverterbrates only" tank!

MOSTLY cold water invertebrates, Chikaboo..... mostly.... Unfortunately - there are some fish left from my KZN collection trip, and they have seemingly adapted PERFECTLY to cold water - I just cannot catch them....

Excuse the pics - they have been taken with my Samsung Pixon Cell-phone..... My DSLR's battery is flat - busy charging.
There is also a HUGE amount detritus in the water - as we just cleaned the tank's glass as well.

I will post some more pics, and some pics taken with my Canon A520 snap-and-shoot digi-cam....

Cheers!

LOL. Ok a fancy chiller for an urchin that sleeps when the lights are on.

Oh i get it. it is going to be your companion while doing your mod stints at night.

Very nice J a cold water bio. Good luck bud.

Many thanks Tridan - I figured - MUCH easier to collect invertebrate life from our own seas, than having to spend a fortune on tropical ;)

Now - I have my 2 metre reef - warm tropical......
And a nice cold water tank too! ;) (temperate water)

Did not want to post it my thread in fear of being hunted down and shot but mind you when I moved my tanks across the room my temp in the main tank dropped all the way down to 18 - OK was a big volume and gradually though not the intention but the inmates made it through the night untill I saw it next day and sorted out the heaters

Yes, Nemo's Janitor. I am planning EXACTLY that. I have 3 nemmie's already in my tank. It's just a b#tch to remove the nemmies from the rocks. At this stage, I could only get some small one's, that was attached to small loose rocks.....

The local lifestock is MUCH hardier, and far better adapted to cope, with changes. The water in KZN invariably becomes 18 degrees - especially in the heart of winter, and when the cold water currents come up the coast......
The water in the rock pools, then also drop to 17/18 degrees, quite often....

I see aiptasia still like cold water :)

LOL! Some remnants from my "smaller aptaisia farm", from before ;)

BUT - they don't like the dark - I had a LOT more..... and the tank was standing, only with the actinics on, for about 4 weeks - a HUGE amount of aptaisia "dissappeared"...... ;)

JB we might joke about aiptase but i promise you it is one of the hardest pest to rid in a tank. I look after a tank that is infested in them. We have used 2 cartons, 24 packets of Joe's juice on about 20% of the tank and the daises still bloom. Nuke those you see now. I will post some Pic's next time i see the tank just to show what causes CBB to apply for the biggest looser.:)

OK, I've got it... you're planning a "holding tank" for those illegal, undersized lobsters you're poaching :whistling:

A cold water tank with "local" inverts will be very interesting - keep us posted

Hennie

jacquesb well this can only be you confusing everyone;)...i think what you are trying to is to get rid of the aptaisia that is in your tank...if it is good luck and i do hope you succeed...

On the other hand im not too sure, i see colorful urchins, starfish and nemmies...

I just hope you not a poacher  just kidding...

Wish you all the luck if you are going the local way...
