For a very long period, I was so pissed off with my N8. I knew it was just the software, but Vodacom didn't release any better working updates.
Yesterday, Vodacom released the new Nokia Belle.
Man, what a difference, what an improvement.
Nokia Belle works for many other Nokia phones too.

Try it, it's worth it.

Since when does Vodacom start making software for Nokia....another way of them locking you in?

No man, Vodacom is not making software. If you buy a phone cash and without any contract (there is a special english word for it I think), then you will be able to update your software to the latest released Nokia software. If you but a contract phone/Vodacom phone, then the service provider has to release the software update. Otherwise you can not get the latest update. I have such Vodacom N8 it since the previous update, I had problems with almost everything. I met many people with the same problems. Nokia released many more updates which I could not install because of the above.

Not so sure if I explained it right, maybe somebody can help me out here.

Nokia Belle is so much better, more features, etc. than the previous rubbish software.

I understand you, same thing I had with my old samsung omnia, and the same reason I got rid of it!

IMO it BS that a service provider controls what firmware you have on your phone. All I can say (without trying to start the whole debate again) I love my Iphone!

If I could get rid of my contract, I would go for the Iphone4. No doubt.
