My Old 4ft Reef Attempt Upgrade

Update

I had to set up a temporary holding tank at my parents place in order for me to move the tank. This took an entire day. Got some plastic containers, drilled them and added bulkheads. I hard plumbed the pumps and overflow.

Moved all the live rock over.

All the coral and fish are in the containers which was done after I took the pics.

Today I will empty the display tank and the sump which will be moved to the new place garage.

OK Done

The tank was moved, It went well, so far I am not aware of any cracks or defects in the tank. This week I will start cleaning the tank and do a inspection. I plan on retrimming the tank and reinforce the bracing and the back of the tank where it is drilled.

Hopefully I will be able to send the new stand for powder coating next week.
Will update as thing progress.

anything over 250L is a mission.

Glad all went ok.

Usually white vinegar and water works well. Once done just rinse it out then you should be ok. Generally when moving a tank always check your silicone joints.

Update!!!

I am still here. Since I have moved, I dont have internet anymore, so now Ill post from work which is not ideal. Telkom will come put my new line in 2 weeks hopefully.

Anyway have made some progress. The tank is almost completely clean. The stand is almost done, have received quotes for powder coating. They are first going to sandblast the stand due to some surface rust, then they powder coat it with a zinc primer and then with the white powder coating. I think I will go with a gloss white look.

I also received quotes for 21mm thick shutter pine which I will go fetch on the weekend.

I also bought one of the Jebao RW-8 pumps but did not have time or space to test it out since I only have a empty tank.

Things will start to progress much faster as soon as the stand is done.
Cant wait.

Hi Guys

Have not updated in a long time. Still waiting for telkom to come install my ads line.

Anyway the stand is finished. Ended up taking it for galv. Will collect tomorrow and see if it did bend.

On another note, a bad one at that. My display tank cracked, No idea how, I filled it up, Ran for a week and bam, crack. luckily no flood.

Busy stripping the tank down, will order new glass to replace the cracked one.

Ok im finally back. Internet is set up after months of waiting for Telkom.

Ok the picture above shows where the tank had cracked. It must have happened during the move.

We finished the move into the new place, I moved all my stuff and tanks into the garage for temporary holding tanks.

The temporary setup worked well. The only thing that bothered me was that I had to go to the garage everytime I wanted to see the fish so change of plan.

Next move was to setup my old 4ft display on the old stand in my study while I was finishing building my new tank. This would have made for a quick and easy transfer.
