Hey mastazee,

I usually do use their water, and I know of few others that do. One of my friends that works their says its fine - just a bit high in phosphates. So, I would run a phosphate remover if you're having problems with algae. That said, some of the guys that use it don't have any issues.

Thanks Dane it is just alot easier and cheaper than mixing my own salt water

I wouldnt be able to afford this hobby if I bought my own salt.

Where do you live? If you're near a clean beach like llandudno then I would say rather get water their. I even get from hout bay sometimes and I havent had a problem. I just collect away from the river mouth and the harbour.

If you live near Llandudno the cost of buying salt should not be an issue:lol:

Did you know that brown stuff on your rock is a form of Encrusting Montipora SPS coral? We have the exact same stuff in our cube at the office and it has started growing very quickly! Lots of polyp extension and every now and again it lets off a plastic like film from the coral.

Really? I did not know that i have seen these white spots on them like extensions and the plastic film coming off of it. Thanks for letting me know how long does the polyps extend? i have not seen them longer than 1mm just looks like fine bumps
