Hi,
I want to move my Frag setup which is currently housed in a green house to indoors.
The reason for this is simple - temperature fluctuations. During the cold evenings and winter time my heaters are working overtime! And during the day it's getting a bit too hot....

The problem now is, I have two DSB's running for more than a year on these tanks.
It is full of life!
But it is also full of Aptiasia.. :-(

So my options are:
1. Take out the sand - dry it & then wash it. I can effectively start from scratch. But this will kill everything.

2. Move the aptiasia with the sand, and try to get rid of them in this manner.
But a lot of critters will die with this process as well.

What is the best way of moving a DSB?

get jo`s juice "dont know the spelling" this will get rid of the aptasia and the take the sand and move the sump.

I don' really like this juice... Never worked for before. (tried it a couple of times)
And there are thousands of the little bastards...

Raven Aiptasia is a good form of biological filtration. Alot of people keep this in their DSB for that reason. Ive heard a few stories of the aiptasia only staying down there. and not going up to the DT. So its up to you....

I must agree - they are very good in filtering the water...But in my case - they took over all the tanks connected to the DSB... :-(

If I could find a way to keep them in the DSB it would have being great!

How big is the tank with the DSB?

I moved a standard 60cm tank that is a DSB on my sons skateboard. Just do it slowly with proper support between tank and skateboard.

Length of the one is 1.2 meters - so this will be a problem allready...
But how did you lift the tank on the skateboard?

It's a good idea, but my terrein won't make that possible...
Will have to lift the tank a couple of places...

I lifted the one side and put short pieces pressed wood under it, than the other side, then firsts side until eventually it was high enough to get the skateboard underneath. Then I could roll it out of there.

What about getting 2 pieces 2 meter in length lip channel, and built a stretcher out of it. Get it underneath and get some strong hands to help you carry it in. Carry it sideways and not length wise as it will then not tip over that easily.

This might work...

You can do that if you are chuck norris:lol:

if take enough water out to be just above the sand level so that the sand stays undeer water and then put the water back later. then taking angle iron long enough to put the tank on top. then four or two people can carry it.
