Hey guys

Since i changed half the substrate I have had a few diatoms on one of the rocks in my tank, and they don't seem to want to go away. Nothing is sick or dying, but don't wanna take any chances. Will a 50% water change be a good move this weekend? I want to counter this before something bad happens.

Thanks
Luke:)

I think, don't panic is the best course of action, a few diatoms will soon go, but large water changes destabilise the chemistry of your water.

Thanks Weeman. So should I go get 50 litres of water and do 10% every 2 days or so for a while? Should I change a bit more of my substrate at my next small water change then? I'm looking to get that course shingle out.

To remove the course substrate, do a small amount weekly, try not to make large changes, lots of small ones works better.
