this was my 1.2m x .600mm x .500mm the dates on the photos are incorrect but this tank ran for 10 years only being moved once in that time,,,,, the bicolour was around about 10 years old and the average fish in the system 6 years old.....
average coral age 6 years aswell some were my first i ever bought.... the frogspawns were the size of my small fingers when i got it and all that you see in the pictures had grown from that tiny frag....
I think every single tank I have seen from East London or Port Elizabeth has this blue background, I have been looking at all of them and to me the light blue background seems to make the tank appear so much brighter, is it possible some of the light is reflecting back into the tank? Whereas the black background appears to absorb the light and make the tank look darker? I don't know, maybe my eyes are just playing tricks with me.
viper i worked at the local LFS for about 5 years and took 90% of the clients home to show them what could be achieve as we dident have a show tank in the shop... i think thats where the blue background craze originated from.. very few guys have black and actually it will be between blue or nothing in most cases.... it depends on area and the person they speak to usually they try to recreate the same effect as what they saw in the origional tank... i also offered the added service of painting the back either black or blue.....
as for the blue its actually a little darker and the lights do lighten it up....
Missed this one, tank looking very nice Les and what did you do to the skimmer, that thing looks brand new. Give it time my friend, good tanks take time.
