Joe's 60 cube

Hi,

Nothing to report really. Nutrients seem under control and corals are growing well.

Have been struggling a bit with Alk though. Almost dosing 60 mls a day - so 20 mls of the 500 ml bottle for comparison.

Mixed up a batch of stock solution tonight and increased the daily dosage by 5 mls. Hope to get the Alk to about 8 as some point.

For those that made it through the boring stuff:

Sounds like a pest. I'll take one for the team and take it off your hands...:m06:
If you ever get round to blasting it off let me know. I've got some yuma wouldn't mind a florida

Great looking tank. I have been using vibrant for a couple months now. At full dose and at half dose some weeks to try get rid of GHA, but it does not seem to work. Last tests for my No3 was 5 ppm and 0.04 ppm Hanna for Po4. So it it just a long battle. I hope it eventually goes away.

Put me on you ric list if you do sell any. My favourite coral. Although I added 4 sticks this month.

Also struggling with bryopsis but did start fluconazole yesterday.

That red in your tank definitely looks like cyano. Maybe chemiclean.

Hope you don’t mind me showing a pic of my tank in your thread. Just showing my rics.

@Seabass nice tank :m38: I am fairly patient so a long wait does not bother me. I'll just stick to the dosing as long as it does not impact my coral or refugium.

Don't think the red patch is cyano. I can't blow it off the rocks - need to scrub it with a toothbrush to get it off. Except for the spot in the rock, the rest only shows up as red when I take pics with the camera filter. My one snail plowed through the spot on the rocks during the week.

Just had a look at the tank. Not sure if this is me imagining things or if the Vibrant has something to do with it, but my water clarity seems awesome. It almost compares to the day after changing out carbon. Any similar experiences? @brentch @Seabass

Yes water is very clear. I run a filter sock. And have loads of flow.

Yes! Vibrant does that. It clears up the water almost like you've added a tonne of carbon or done a fresh water change. I should be a vibrant rep, the way I speak about it! Your tank is looking really great @Tafelsout, great stuff!

You should then you can get more money for that bigger tank:lol::lol:

Hi,

Just some general updates. Think I'll start off with Vibrant feedback. Two things I can say for certain:
  • Water clarity is amazing
  • Algae on class definitely reduced
My cheato did take a bit of a knock with the Vibrant and for now I am not dosing it as recommended - cheato started disintegrating and I removed big clumps of it last week.

I think I will give it a break for another 2 weeks and reduce the dose to 1 ml instead of 3ml.

Naturally, my nutrients spiked a fair amount within the 1st week. I managed it as follows:
  • 60 liter Water Change
  • Increased nopox dosing to 5 ml
  • Tested NO3 every 2nd day to establish the trend.
Luckily after the above nutrients started on a downward trend:

2 of my encrusting montipora and the loripes are not happy about this swing. The Loripes is showing some recessionon 1 tip. The superman monti is looking slightly lighter than before.

Not much else to report. Some pics:
