How many KG's of aragonite will I need for a TL 550?

Have a look on our calculators page Marine Aquariums of South Africa calculators There is a link there to work out how much sand is needed for a DSB, just enter your measurements and it should give you a rough idea.

I have 9 cm in mine, I has been running for about three years, the live rock column is above the sand bed supported by 3 PVC pillars that are placed on the base to stop any chance of falling over.

i used 7kg's and my bed is 2 to 3.5cm unevenly spread.

Look at the start of my thread, used 15kg, should have used 18kg, my LR is suspended on acrylic rocks.

18kg bag covered 65x65cm to a depth of 2-3cm. This quantity should cover a TL550 to 4-6cm depth.
