Hotdog's Maxed Out Reef 650

Best bet would be a TMC one, they are on the list every now and then, but around R1800.

I hear TMC fish are worth paying that little bit extra for though due to the care they take with their livestock so with a fish like that it’s worth it in my opinion.
Thanks for the heads up.

They are also on the wrong side of reef safeness, my older one picked on my favia and brain coral endlessly.

My older one I got out of tmc box from Sheldon, but still struggled with it at the start, it did not want to eat. So I put it in my 1000 liter sump with lots of LR for a few months and it did well. I still don’t see it eat food I put in, but it stays fat, so has to be eating something. The newer one which is from Phillipines seems to be eating pellets. I initially got 2 new ones from Phillipines as I expected one might not make it, and it didn’t. They are a lot cheaper from non-tmc suppliers but you get what you pay for in the end, super lucky with mine eating pellets.

Awesome angel collection..wish I could add an angel to my system but prize my maxima clam and acans too much to risk it..besides the genicanthis species which angel have you found to be the most reef safe?

That is a good question. I always thought my regal angel was quite reef safe, but it started eating zoas lately. Clams are probably the most tasty out of all corals/inverts to angels, so Genicanthus probably best bet. Can possibly try a Centropyge or 2, I found coral beauties to be mostly reef safe for one, and I know of aurantia angels being kept with lots of lps without issue. My bicolor has also been a model citizen so far, but generally they are not considered on the reef safe side.

You are really lucky with it taking pellets already, that has been their major drawback in that they don’t often tend to take to prepared foods and die.

I guess with regards to reef safeness they pretty much what you would expect with any dwarf angel...but worth a gamble i think.

I think individual fish differ, the new one hasn’t touch any of the corals where it is in, and there is goniopora, which is normally quite tasty.

Yup I’ve always thought it comes down to the individual fish...I’ve owned
Flame angels
Regal angel
Queen angel
Cherub angel
Coral beauty
Jumping bean
Black bean
Vroliki

Out of all of those only the black bean ever really bothered the odd coral, and I know a lot of guys have not been as lucky with the same angel species.

Thanks guys. Need to be vigilant the next month or 2 to make sure tank stays stable with all the new additions added. Doing double dose Care Bacter, adding Stability daily and changing filter socks more than normal. Plus plan a 30% water change in the next week, need to stay on top of parameters given the amount of new fish added at once.

With double dosing of Care Bacter you should be 100s with regards to the increase bioload. But rather safe than sorry.

Hope everything is ok. Also started dosing Nopox at half dose, as nitrates are creeping up, hopefully Care Bacter and Nopox compliments each other.

How many fish in total did u introduced ?, just out of curiosity :swim:
