Featured System for October 2009 - SunnyX

This has always been my inspirational tank..

Well done Sunny, Always a pleasure to look at your masterpiece...

Just one question, your tank is Rimless, your glass thickness is 12mm?

Hello and thank you. :)

The glass is 1/2" so that would make it 12-13mm thick.

Wow! Absolutely incredable! Nice to know that someone also like the nice clean look and feel. I hate rocks dominating the tank. I'm still a newbie and must add that this hobbie is so frustrating and rewarding at the same time. Just lost some fish with a white spot outbreak. But I'm sure with you're 14 years of reef keeping you've had you fair share of losses.

Well done again. A true insparation!

Yes, I have been through ups and down, but I have fought through them. I recently posted something similar on my website and will repost it here:

Dont give up! - Rimless Reef

I have been in this hobby for a while now, 14 years, and if I would have gave up at the first sign of adversity I would not be where I am today. I know, it sounds cliche but it is true. It is sad to see so many new and old reefers leaving this hobby everyday. Problems develop in their tanks and they get frustrated and depressed, leading to them exiting this wonderful hobby.

I wanted to post a picture of one of my first SPS tanks, back around 2001-02.I had kept soft corals and anemones in the past but this was my first venture into SPS on a large scale. It was a 120gl, and boy did it give me heartaches! I almost quit the hobby at least 10 times during this trying period, but with the support of people on the boards like this I was able to pull through and go on to create a couple great looking tanks. ;)

So for those of you fighting issues with you tank and even those of you unhappy with coral coloration of growth I say stick with it! It will take some time, but you reap what you sow. The hard work and diligence will pay off.

If you thought or think you have issues, look at what I had to fight through. After clearing the tank of the mess you see below I fought 6 months to destroy the dreaded Dinoflagellates! But I fought and won, and so can you! -yes

I would like for those of you who have fought problems in your reefs to post pictures so that we may inspire others and give them hope that they can find solutions to their problems.

NEVER GIVE UP!
