Enter the Dragon

Now thats some real cool pics Ant.
Keep it rolling.
Show some overseas internet surfers what an African Ant can do!!!!:)

WOWEEEE stunning

Thanks for compliments guy's :)

Still a long way to go with this system yet, it's only just starting to mature now so I'm busy tweaking and fine tuning things at the moment. My first goal is to add a second DSB/refugium and I'm scheming of ways to fit it in somewhere.

Thanks Gary.

I'll post some more pics of the Engine room tonight ;)

Anthony i see you running 3X250W's.
Have you ever considered T5s?
Besides your Calcium Reactor, what other additives you dose?
Do you water changes weekly or monthly?

Hi Anthony
Looking very nice!
You said you were going to run this tank on the full Zeovit range from the start. Are you still doing so? I couldn't see a reactor in the pics.

Hey Mash, Besides the MH's I'm running addtional / supplemental T5's as well.
If you mean Have I considered running only T5's... Hell yes, if I could get my hands on an 8 x 80w Power Module :)
My water change regime has been a bit erratic for various reasons, some experimental and some not but averages out at about 10% every 2 weeks.
During that time I change carbon, siphon the sump and maintenance on any other piece of equipment that needs it.

Frank, the system is currently not running full blown ZEOvit. Mash this is for you as well.
Besides the CA rx I dose Seachem Reefbuilder as and when needed. I find I can maintain the CA with the rx alone but Alk needs to be checked and adjusted every 2 weeks or so.
Recently I have started adding ZEOvit supplements - Amino Acids, Pocci Glow and Potasium Iodide - 6 drops of each daily and 2ml daily of ZEOstart2.

Thanks DR. 8X80W PM. Wow now thats some serious $$$$.
'Currently not running full blown ZEOvit'- So i take it you are going to run full zeo system?
How you finding the Calcium Reactor, cos if i remember you had difficulty dialling it in.
How has your tank reacted to ZEO products? Any significant improvements?
Reason im asking is due to the fact you not running the complete ZEO system.
Sorry for all the questions, just your system is so interesting!:)

Thanks,
Mashrie

No probs Mash, the first 2 questions are free... then I start charging

I haven't written off running full blown ZEO yet, I'm just experimenting with other options at the moment. I seen mindblowing results following conventional methodology which I'm happy to continue with for a while. I also want to have a better understanding of these creatures before taking it to another level so to speak.

As far as the supplements go, it's hard to say for sure. I've only really started dosing the additional stuff about 6 weeks ago on any sort of regular basis.
I have noticed better polyp extension and growth has sped up a bit - probably attributed to the amino acids. I can't say that I've seen any improvement as far as colour goes and this has been a slow slog.
New growth tips are starting to show good colour, but were doing this before the addition of any ZEO supps.
So yeah I will let you know as it unfolds :)
I have found that I'm getting better skimmate production since I started adding ZEOstart2 though ;)

Cool Beans

Interesting. Coludnt agree more that you first have to learn the creatures. But im sorry thats where Li comes in. His knowledge is quite staggering. If im with him i leave the internet and books alone!!:p
I will be following tank very closely as i believe its gonna be a stunner!!!!
You see Ant none of the above is questions. Dont want a hefty bill!!!:whistling:

Ciao for now,
Mashrie

Cool, thanks Mash. Yeah Li is an invaluable source of knowledge. Picked his brain on more than one occasion and helped me out a lot with the nutrient / algae issues I was having.

damn that tank just gets better and better!how did you manage to get rid of that hair algea anthony?

Ok guy's a few more pics. Not the best pic of the Gorgonian but it has shown some phenomanal growth in the last 3 months. Not sure why.

great pics, looks like the Reef Octopus is outdoing the Deltec.

What light is that over the chaeto? Do you get good growth?

Hey Dean yip the Octo is spanking the Deltec at the moment.
I need to do a major service on the Deltec though. Strip and clean the recirc pump, suspect I have some calcium build up on the needle wheel because bubble production is not what it should be.

I'm just using a 60W spot light globe over the chaeto on a reverse cycle.
Harvest a handful every 2 - 3 weeks.
