Never thought i would see that either, and i think its not the first time either I had a school of 4 chromis this was the last the other 3 were smaller and just vanished

I don't believe a donut is strong enough to "grab" a healthy fish. That fish must have been weak/sick/killed by something else and drifted into the donut. I had lots of LPS corals and never have I lost a fish to one.
I remember when I used to feed them hake even the cleaner shrimps could steal it from the mouths and tenticles, so the "grip" is not that strong.

Unfortunately this is the ugly truth when it comes to Chromis. The dominant one will always pick on the weakest until it dies, then it will move to the next in line until only one remains. It was obviously an unhealthy fish (you can see lymphocystis virus on the fins) and very likely just floated onto the coral when it was dead or close to dead.
it was 100% healthy yesterday so who knows

There was an article about a brain coral that was doing the same. Just goes to show that some coral are not 100% fish safe

I totally agree with @Tobes,
That fish must have died during the night and somehow landed on the doughnut. Doughnuts definitely dont have the speed or the grip to grab a fish. I feed my doughnuts very small pieces of lance fish and I have to turn off the currents and make sure I keep away the shrimps or other fish. They are very slow feeders!
But congrats!!! it surely makes for a freaky picture
