Tank is doing well. I eventually got round to using the STC and two titanium heaters. Made a huge difference! Thanks @Christo for the 3d Print! I just need a longer temp probe to route the wire properly.
Lost a few sps along the way but the survivors are going strong. I am busy collecting corals to cover the bottom of the tank now. Going slooow but I will get there.

Hi. I bought them from a member ons masa a while back. I couldn't find any for sale locally so not sure where he got them from. They are worth every penny though. Good luck

Made a lot of changes to the tank since the last post.
I decided a while back to transition the tank from bare bottom to sand and remove the sps and go for a lps dominant system. I also added more rock to the display so It looks weird now, but eventually that piece will house a hammer garden. I also added an inferno anemone, he walked straight to that spot where he is now and there he stayed, my hydno is taking a beating so I will frag it and move to a different location. Luckily I have some frags of the hydno already. Honestly didn't think the inferno will beat a hydno up like that being a fighter in its own right, but he won hands down and seeing as a nennie knows best I just let him be and will work around him. The tangs where re located to a friend as I am also working on a different fish list for more diversity. I just kept the Gold rim, so he is boss at the moment.
All this basically came from me getting annoyed at sps deaths and the constant attention and figure chasing sps tanks demand... I just didn't enjoy it as much as I would like so it took the fun out of reefing. I didn't want to pack up reefing because I just love it too much, so this is the second option. Lets do something myself and the kids can enjoy.
On the hardware side I switched out the t5 for two Orphek or120 Blue plus led bars and moved the lancia to the middle. Will eventually add more bars, but for now it works quite well.
Anyway here are some pics.

Changed the lighting on the tank again. This time I made an effort to do a proper hybrid. I took the old Giesemann T5 unit and gutted it to add the OR120 led bars. This unit used to be a 8x54w so it is perfect to run 4 tubes in the middle of the led bars.
Old unit. This was for sale for a period until I changed my mind. Glad I did that
Started stripping it to see what can be used and what not, so I ended up removing two of the T5 ballasts and end caps. This was left.
I struck luck with the reflector. Its a two piece so that was a quick fit. Zee Germans helped alot here
Then I had to mount the led bars, and that needed some modification to get the bars to sit flush next to the T5's. ended up cutting slots where they would mount to.
Test fit. The Led bars are exactly the same length as the unit, less the end caps that is
So I had to remove the end caps, add lugs to the light end caps and mount it that way to at least look decent
I wanted to change the light to black so now was the time to do it, so I stripped everything down again and changed it to black then started assembly.
