Another Attempt at a powder blue
Dont laugh guys:razz:, but my dream fish has always been a power blue. Over more than a decade I must have murdered :nono:about 8 of them in failed attempts.
My tank has been stable for many months now, with no signs of any deases on all my livestock and good water quality all round, so Ive decided to give it another shot.
I managed to find a nice speciment

at Reeflife on Friday last week. He showed no signs of deases and had been at the LFS for two weeks already. He is also eating like a pig.
This is the plan...
1) Keep in QT for 4 weeks.
2) Immediate medication in QT (despite no signs of desease) with half strength myxazin twice a day for 5 days.
3) If there are still not signs of spot after another week (its been 5 weeks at this point) then he will go into my Frag tank, which is plumbed in to my main DT so that he can adjust to the main systems water parameters on his own.
4) As always stress will be kept to an absolute minimum when catching by catching in a plastic bag tied to the wire frame of a net. Once caught he will be dripped in a small container for 1 to 2 hours to adjust as well before introducing into the Frag tank
5) If all goes still goes well after another week (now week 6) he will enter the DT at night with all lights off. No climatization should be necessary. THere will also be mirrors on the front glass of the DT to distract the other inmates the next day when lights come back on.
6) As an interim measure when he is introduced into my dt (i.e for 1 week) I will run UV 24/7 and lift my ORP to 450 so that Ozone can run at a higher level than before.
I will also replace my Carbon similtaneously and run my skimmer wet. After that week I will revert everything back to normal
This is it for me, i'm putting my entire thriving tank at risk for my ultimate fish.
I feel that If I cannot keep a PB then I might as well not bother claiming im an aquarist.
Fingers Crossed. Will take pics as i progress
