img-3250.jpg

Salinity - 1.025
Temp - 26.6 @ 16h15
PH - 8.0
NH4 - <0.25
NO2 - 0
NO3 - 0.2
KH - 7.3 dkH

I know its a bit early for the tests but I wanted to give myself a starting point.
Still waiting for the NH4 spike :m42:

looks very nice. scaping is basic but yet very tidy. cycle time is always the boring part......until you see life. enjoy the hobby and all the best on your tank.

Thx Aapstert
Looks very good in the display, what's in the sump?
filter sock with some filter floss to get rid of the milky water, I want to start with a refugium in a week, just not sure if I will be able to keep it healthy with such low nutrients at this point.

IMO start the refugium sooner rather than later. an push the lights in the fug and leave the display lights off during cycle

Will the algae not die of low nutrients?
Will Cheato's be the best algae to use?
I am running a light in the sump 24/7 with some (not enough) uncured live rock.
I'm also feeding the tank everyday with some flakes, and dosing stability.
The DT lights is on 2 hours a day.

Never had an issue with it dying, but start with a small ball.
Yeah I used Cheato.
Wouldn't run it 24/7, I'd go on 14-16 hours opposite to the display tank lights (leave the DT lights off during the cycle to maximize Fug.
No need for DT lights at this point, all it will do it cause diatoms/algae

With the Cheato just make sure you keep it clean it can get full of junk.

Ok will do, thank you for sharing your knowledge :m01:

Zoas are poisonous but just wear gloves while handling them, or even better don't touch them.

Emperor, Queen angels and the puffer will eat your corals. Moorish idol and flame angel might nibble as well.

Clown trigger will eat your inverts.

Amount of Liverock depends on your aquascape, there isn't a set rule.

Your lights are great, maybe try and get good quality bulbs. Aquamedic, ATI, Giesemann etc.

This might be a stupid question but exactly how poisonous are zoas? I have been handling them with my bare hands...

But still no Algae ........

There wasn't an ammonia spike because there was no die off to create ammonia.

You either have to feed the tank and let the food rot or add pure ammonia from your supermarket.

Edit : oops, I see you are feeding the tank. Maybe feed a bit more.

I did start to feed a bit more, but I also have two pieces of prawn inside for 6 days now.
