Good Day MASA.

I have a small outbreak of Byropsis algea in my tank. Up to now I’ve done manual removal, but it came to such a stage that I’m fed up with manual removal.

Does/will Vibrant Aquarium cleaner work for a case of Byropsis? Or is the only solution Fluconazole treatment?

I was lucky to have both FluxRX and Vibrant together that worked extremely well. Vibrant works ridiculously well on bubble algae too. First choice if I could chose only one for Bryopsis would be Fluucanozole. I found three treatments in a row destroyed the stuff, and it does not ever come back.

Brentch can you give more info on doing 3 treatments please. How long was each treatment and did you do a waterchange in between each? Was each treatment full dose?

I did one treatment last year but Bryopsis came back a month later. I'm currently into the 2nd week of another treatment and was planning on doing a maintenance dose (half) next week.

Imo flag using vibrant for byropsis & use fluconazole.
5-6-7 days gone

I switched off my skimmer for the time I dosed. Full dose each time. 3 doses in 3 or 4 weeks, can't really remember. I kept dosing based on seeing the stuff still on the rocks. After the 2nd dose it was almost gone. But because it didn't affect the tank inhabitants negatively at all, I just decided to be sure and did a 3rd dose...

Thanks. My open brain inflated crazily for a day or 2 but everything else was unaffected so will try

Sounds like the ideal solution. I don’t want to over dose my tank in chemicals. I’ve had great success with fluconazole before. But now it’s a mission to get again

I used Vibrant with excellent results in my reef tank. Rather start by use lower than indicated dose and go slow, don't expect quick results but in the end it work very well.

For Byropsis? It’s quite expensive so I don’t want to buy it unnecessarily

Hi sorry for bryopsis Fluconazole is your best bet. I used it for algae and it worked very well
