TL450-Removing plastic edging as such

Hello people

I'm just thinking, has anyone come across a TL450 with the top rim and bottom base plastic removed? This would basically make this tank a rimless one. Just a thought...

Also, I highly doubt that the rim provides any support to the glass. I may be wrong and it might just be a form of bracing...

I took it of while rebuilding a cube. It is not easy. And I have to agree, it does look nice without it.

To remove it, especially the top one, is not easy. you will be amazed how much a little bit of silicone can hold the top to the glass.

I saw this thread and forgot it's title... Thanks! the bottom silicone holding the rim to the glass, if i strip that silicone, it doesn't harm the tank's glass structure? or does it?

the top rim and bottom rim is exactly the same

top,the glass just fits into the slot, bottom part the slot is open. Easier to remove bottom one. No, it dos not harm the glass structure. But you would need to get polystyrene or closed cell foam as the bottom pane would then be without support.
