sun coral has not opened

Aggreed Robert... If a coke bottle fits over it rather go that route... What you are doing now is like slitting someones wrist, letting him bleed a bit and then doing a blood transfusion on him. Then tomorrow you slit his wrist again etc. Remember that this is a LPS coral. Take any LPS like a frogspawn for example out of the water and place into a container every day and see how it fares healthwise.

Rather just bottle it, get it back to great health and then you can move it to the original spot you want it. Light really has no affect on it, it will not do worse if you have it in light - dont stress about it. Flow, food and excellent water params are now the most crucial aspect you need to focus on.

I am however pleased to hear that you are seeing a bit of life there!!! Keep up the good work!!!

LOL thats a bit mellow dramatic dont u think!

Look its not the best option, BUT...most of these corals come in on a piece of rock anyway so if he isnt touching the coral itself and the system is working and he is getting results I dont think he should mess with it.

People have had success for years with this method. Its not practical but it does work in getting a non feeding/dying coral back to health where u can start feeding it larger foods in the tank.

Hehehehehe... Yeah, but I was feeling creative...

Yeah, look, as long as he does not make much contact with the tissue then it should do fine. I am currently using this method to revive a Dorry Pets suncoralbut the rock allows me to touch it. I however keep it under water at all time, it really just helps the coral be a bit happier.

Nothing wrong with doing it that way though, as long as you dont touch it and keep it submerged.

Yip forgot to mention keeping it submerged is the best bet. You can just put the container into the tank and move the coral in under the water...less stress definately.

my problem is a coke bottle does not fit over it i need a oros bottle, but when i do touch it i pick it up at the base, and i leave the container floating in the tank, so i dont really take it out the water, like you said i move it in under water . I did touch it the first time when i heard of the method. Will a oros bottle be fine to use if i can get hold of one.

thanks for the advice guys:thumbup:

A bottle is a bottle ;) ...what ever you can use that will encapsulate the coral in the tank so that the food will stay around it giving it time to feed before it gets blown away or eaten by your other livestock.

Im only feeding once a day should i feed twice a day i know you should feed twice a day, but i dont wanna put to much stress on the coral.

Thanks

Hey thanks for checking up guys, progress is slow but there is improvement i wish there was a faster way. Im still feeding once a day, i found that the coral likes to be in a good flow of the current, I just wanna wait another week or so be for a post a pick.

Well done mate!! Good job at saving him, now just keep on and do not change what you are doing now...

I just picked up a sun coral today. I've been raising Amphipods in a separate tank. I'm planning on taking a trip to Hawaii in July, and my son will be in charge of the tank. I'm planning on dumping all the additional Amphipods in the tank before I leave. I'm hoping they will help with any deficiencies in my son's care. Will the Sun Coral eat Amphipods?

I'll make a video of it sometime today. It's 1:30 am, and I just checked again. It has not opened on it's own yet. I have to do some weekly cleaning/maintenance and try to coax it to open.
