Article South African Marine Fish

I have been reading through a book that my daughter took out at her school library for me to read, shame, very thoughtful of her. The book is called Sea Fishes of Southern Africa, with most of the photo's by Dennis King, incidentally, did you know that the Tiger Angelfish - Apolemichthys kingi, a fish found ONLY on our coast line was discovered by and is named after Dennis King, pretty cool hey. I believe the price tag on one of these fish can reach up to R35 000.00 overseas.

Anyway, just thought I would share a bit of info and photo's of some of the awesome fish that the we get on our coastline, time to start diving I think :)

Hi Dave - nice pics! Just two questions:
- where was this taken?
- what is that to the left of the clam? (not the blastomusso).... inbetween the blastomusso and the clam?

Could it be a Criniod feather star Jakkie boy?

Pics 99,100 and 101 my nano tank ,pics 102 to104 my friends 30 000L marine pond.
The thing you are refering to is a local tubeworm,as is the blasto and the clam.

Nice Roadblock, I saw Most of the fish today (The one's in your friend's Pond). So hopefully, weather permitting, tomorrow morning will be another good diving day as I saw huge Lunula and Vagabonds as well as nice Coachmen and Goldies today. Also had the privilage to be with 02 biggish Yellow with Neon Blue spot Box fish (Puffers) today.

Saw a couple of "Blackish" Fish today. Do not know them but they have the same shape as a Yellow Tang- Anyone knows what it is????

Any way the mods might clean this thread up and just have the pics of local fish and their names up here. Just read thru all the pages and there are really a lot of posts that have absolutely nothing to do with the local fish. And can we add some more pics to this thread....Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
