Sims Octagon

Ok some updates....

I have cleaned up the tank, braced the top with Euro bracing all the way around 40mm all in 6mm glass + a 40mmx40mm support on each brace, all the joints have a glass strip so it's sort of a triangle at each join. Got glass for an overflow and will build a box. Not sure what I'm going to do for a sump but I think i'll try to build a sump in the cabinet. Should I go with a Nano stream or CLS? Lighting will be 2 x T5's on reflectors, DSB intank and sump will have Macro Algae..

Any other ideas?
 
Hi Sims When I saw the first photo I said WOW I also want one, now the bunch of wise ones has gone and spoiled our fun. I would still give it a bash even if I have to lower the water level. Just imagine a few seahorses in this special shape!

OIf uou look closely you will see that the panes are joined with a strip of glass too.

Surly this tank is now braced enough?

OK now I need help with what to do with the flow? CLS with OR3500 or 2 x Nano streams, tank is 150l

DSB In display (got lots of height so will look cool I think)

Back 3 panes will be blace with external overflow

2 x T5's 24w for now - if I get a nice bonus I will buy a chiller and MH for this tank..

Man it's tough trying to setup 2 tanks.... :lol:
 
What livestock are you going to put in this tank sims? If it's seahorses then you need gentle flow.
 
Well for the time being I have to move all my live stock into this tank and a standard 3ft as I need my current system to get the new tank started, Once the new one is up and running then I have no idea. Sea Horses would be nice but I'm a bit worried about their feeding habits? So I don't know maybe a nano stram will be ok for now, it's easy to add a cls later as this tank is so small. I'll get the overflow box done and get the cycle started although it should not take too long as the rock I am using has been curing for many weeks now...
 
Yip something along those lines.... just gotta wait for my drill bits so I can drill the overflow box - they promised friday so will have it done this weekend, will probably use my AM1000 on the tank for a while and then get a TS1...

I hooked up the Prizm on my 3ft that is just about cycled and it's already got some foam....

I would agree with black, just makes everything in the tank stand out.

Sims, once it's up and running, lemme know, I'll send you some purple algae...hehe. Looks nice and grows slowly. Will make nice gripping places for the seahorses if you going that route.
