Hi Guys,
i have being cycling my Tank for 2 weeks now.
i tested the Salinity Last night for the first time and its high(1.036)
is that how it was supposed to be while Cycling and will it come down in time or should i do something?

No, your salinity will remain constant. What are you using to measure your salinity? Are you replacing evaporated water with RO water?

i took a sample to my LFS.
i

Get some ro water and top up to get level right.

To be honest I'm also needing to.adjust my specific gravity but in the inverted directify (up) h9w fast do.you guys reckon it should be doe

I've read most forums suggest min. 2 weeks to correct. If you have inverts it would be best to be more cautious.

If it was me, I'd take a cup (of a 160L tank) out every night and let my auto-top it off with RO until it's corrected.

So if you've checked salinity then start replacing some salt with RO until you get to 1.025. If you have no live stock then you can do it quicker than if you are keeping anything in the tank.

I'd say either you or the LFS mixed the salt incorrectly.

i only have live rock in,

Could the High Salinity Cause a Yellow colorant in the Water?

If you only have liverock in then just take salt water out and replace with RO. The bacteria die-off will not be that much and might just cause the tank to cycle for a few days longer. You will waste alot more water doing it a little bit at a time.

i bought the Mix from a LFS, i even checked it myself cause i want to learn.

As mentioned previously i am needing to.adjust my sg to the desired sg as exampled below and therefore this is just for information purposes.

As mentioned by another hobbyist on Reef Central at showthread.php?t=809576:
" you can lower salinity by .004 every 24hrs., but only by .002 every 24 hrs. if raising."

Also see herewith a calculator for determining the amount of salt required to achieve a certain specific gravity at https://www.hamzasreef.com/Contents/Calculators/DirectSaltCalculator.php. You will probably want to just to change the units to more suitable types like litres and specific gravity.

There is also a manual calculation possible which I do as follows -

Desired sg - current sg = required sg.
Required sg ÷ decimal value of desired sg.
Multiply that x amount of grams per litre salt required to achieve desired sg and Multiply that by total water volume.

Example:

1.024-1.017 = 0.007
0.007 ÷ 0.024 = 0.292
0.292 * 37.1 g salt = 10.833 KG salt needed.

That is then aproximately a 290 litres mixture required (10 833 g ÷ 37.1 g).

The salt can also be added next to the skimmer.
