Hi. I am thinking of buying a magnificent anemone from a friend. The anemone is constantly moving around in his tank and he feels it might be that he's lights are not strong enough. Anemone also goes into filters (buyo tank). Will stronger lights make the anemone more satisfied? Do they not destroy your other corals by moving around all the time? I've read that they sting the other corals? And, maybe a stupid question, will an anemone be able to get out of the tank? My tank is rimless, no cover over the top.

Hi @Maddy.
Can you perhaps just share your tank dimensions, what lighting you have, what your water parameters are (especially nitrates & phosphate) & what filtration equipment you have?

Magnificent anemone's are very difficult to keep, & needs absolutely pristine water quality & correct flow / lighting to survive.

If the anemone is currently in a boyu with standard filtration & lighting, it WILL be unhappy, & move around as the lighting is totally underrated for an anemone, & the skimmer definitely not powerful enough.

They are considered to be kept by "expert only" marine keepers, & shouldnt be sold to anyone that is incapable of keeping one.

If the nennie is moving around now, tell your friend to secure the powerheads, as one morning he IS going to wake up to nennie liquidized soup
