Looks pretty good. Your tank's looking pretty fine already especially with the old skimmer you had, well done.

Should only get better with this fella.

 thats my problem,patience.
yip changed the washer for an o-ring,looks like i just gotta wait a little more.should i raise the water level more or leave it as it is in the picture?whats strange is,is that although the water level is at the same place, the neck is dirty to about 3/4 the way up.

These skimmer take some time to run in...You shouldve run it in warm water in your shower/bathtub to remove all the factory oils..and then it should get a kickstart...But its cool the way you have it now...
Also, try to extend the venturi pipe cos when power goes out, it will spit out water throught he venturi pipe...Those black garden sprinkler pipes work well for this.
Try to "REV" the skimmer...What i mean by this is turn the ball valve on the outlet pipe open and close a couple times so that to allow the water in the skimmer to wet the neck inside to allow it to skimm better or kick in faster after you cleaned the cup/neck..
When plumbing this skimmer from overflow, make sure you have a durso in the overflow, cos without this, as water evaporates, it plays around with the water level in the skimmer causing you to change settings every now and again...If you have an auto topup, this should suffice..
Make sure when setting the skimmer for the desired skimmate to allow the skimmer to adapt to the setting for a couple of days and if you not happy eith the setting, then change the setting and leave again for couple of days to get best results...

if i think of anything else, i will post

Mek; I would raise bubble level by at least 2 inches.

Ridwaan; the black tubing you refer to....does it have the same diametre of the factory tubing?...i use black tubing also intended for irrigation on my ro unit and it is a lot thinner.
