I have recently started looking at getting my tank water params to be more stable. I am a bit baffled and don't understand why my Mg level keeps dropping? A week ago it was sitting on 1110ppm and when I tested over the weekend it was on 990ppm. I was even dosing 2ml Mg a day to try and get it raised.

Is it normal for it to drop? Should I now dose more everyday to try and get it up?

Tank age? Possibly growth of coraline algae sucking up mg? Have you introduced any new sps or LPS? What are you using to dose?

Don't have Coraline growth. Tank about a year old. I use Pure Reef to dose.

Have some softies and some LPS frags

Test your daily loss on mg, calc and kh and increase dosing until there is no longer a loss. try and keep MG and calc in a ratio of 3 to 1 roughly and kh is fine around 8-11 - stability is the key! Rather also dose more often than only once a day in larger quantities

Your consumption should not be too high though with a couple lps. maybe send a pic of your tank

Cool....Thanks @Criggy. Should I try and dose then in the morning a little bit and then in the evening a little bit?

I used to buy pre-mix water from LFS but started mixing own water about month and a half ago. Not sure what lfs used but i am using Aquafin

Yes remember stability is key better to dose 1ml 10 times throughout the day than 5ml twice daily. What are the specs of the Aquafin salt - mg, kh and calc? If it does not say then test a batch of newly mixed water - for interest sake. If you are trying to mantain mg at 1400 for example and your salt mix has mg of 900 then best change salt brand
