Hi guys

Im starting a new tank soon and Im wanting to run the balling method
to maintain CA ALK and MAG.

Where can one find NACL Free reef salts,
and who stocks The marine magic dosers? are they any good?

also if I understand correct one has to remove the same amount of water
to whats been dosed in order to maintain salinity.
with a tripple dosser I can dose CA ALK and MAG,would I need another tripple doser
to remove the water after dosing or will a singel doser be enough?

Usually the volume of Ca/Mg/dKH-water dosed is not that much (especially if it is equal to the rate of uptake by corals), which is generally less water input than water evaporated. So as long as you have your ATU, the amount of water you add through supplementation, shouldn't matter much...

thanks guys already bought a doser yesterday.
now for the NACL free salt....
 
There are many guys who run dosers using the same supplements as the balling method but use normal reef salt. Its called the balling light method. So in my opinion there is no need for NaCl free salt. To combat the buildup of chloride over time people using this method do a very big water change every 3-6 months to flush the system of buildup.

As I understand it you should dose using RO water not salt water. This will have no effect on Salinity levels as @bretch mentioned earlier in this thread.

realized I can just dose what I need and as marius said flush the system off excess NACL
every now and then.

I got the same doser. Its pretty easy to run. I use diy sups. I just have big containers of the mixture. I just mix RO with it, set the doser and thats it
