Hi guys just wondering is anyone running mangrove s as part of your filtration.
If so please post pics and share the requirements of keeping them.
Just think they look really cool.

Thanks

these are more aesthetically pleasing than actually assisting the uptake of Nitrates and phosphates, unless of course you have hundreds of them in Bonsia form.

I think that people fail to realise that these plants are actually trees and can get quite large.
So unless you have plans around supporting this tree in the long term, I wouldn't recommend including one in your setup.
But I do agree, the setup with a mangrove does look appealing :)

This would be an awesome setup if you could do it:

Mangroves also grow too slowly to be used for nutrient export.
They still are really cool and id definitely get one if i could

looks like a wild fig in the last pic, Ficus... something or another scientific name, still cool tho.

If of interest its at an Italian Restaurant/accommodation spot just up from the wharf in Pemba..great food,owned/run by an Italian guy,
Locanda Italiana
Here's it from the inside
