Maintaining Calcium and Alkalinity

Hi guys, thanks for a very intresting and informing read.
One question - I am situated in Vanderbijlpark, and I am unable to find calsium hydrox/clor or anything - only slake lime...

Where Can I walk in and buy calcium hydrox and chloride etc?

Tnx!

Niel

Hi Niel - Calcium Hydroxide IS slaked lime....

That said - you can try your closest chemicals supplier/wholesaler - ie. Protea Chemicals, or some other chemicals manufacturer.

Also - you could possibly befriend your local chemist, and ask THEM to order calcium hydroxide and calcium chloride for you, in bulk.

I bought a 25 kg bag of calcium hydroxide at the outsales office of Protea Chemicals here in Cape Town, and it cost me R51...

Slaked lime = Calcium Hydroxide = Kalk. All the same.

Alan and Mekaeel, do you'll know what your Ph levels are before and when pouring the slurry?

Mo, when I do my nght dosing, the ph of the tank is around 8.3, it then goes up to 8.5 after dosing. By the morning, the ph is @ 8.1, after dosing it goes up to 8.3. (These levels were after about an hour after dosing).
