Leslies 5ft

the old tank was more reliant on water changes as it only had a Jebo skimmer (considered big) in those days and a trickle system only.... total tank capacity was 450lt (4ft) besides this i dident really understand LR and i followed the principal that if there were 2 corals at the LFS and one was on a bigger rock i bought that one for the extra life it contained....

only years later did someone we open a more modern book (there werent too many around E.L. and see the term "Live rock".

that system ran like that for 10 years+.

it housed mostly softies and Lps.. i had about 3 sps i collected from durban and transkei but the were unapealing as they remained brown.... obviously i know now it was due to high nutruents and sub standard water flow.

And who was this genius?

Bet ya it wasn't me

well i have been fighting a little algae bloom and have added a powder blue... hes been in about a week now and was covered in white spot.... i have been feeding him frozen brineshrimp soaked in either red sea vita or sea chem vitimais and he has come along nicely even gaining weight...

im still a little nervious about this fish though and i bought it because its candices favourite fish....

i have been keeping some sps and lps in my system for mullet untill his tank is properly matured... im looking for sps to fill my system before i sell my lps and am batteling to find....

i recently bit the bullet and bought a R.O. unit but am not using it as ywt due to the fact that i dont have a single plug to hook it up to... i will be doing some plumbing inbetween rugby games this weekend....

thats all for now i will post pics as soon as i get a monitor.... hill has been kind enough to lend me one but it is so distorted that i cant actually see what im typing...:(

the spots come and go and he has become visibly better but i havent had success with them at all in the past even after i was given one by morris in durban that had been in his tank for about a year... it was superhealthy and just deteriorated over about one month.....

i would have liked to have waited a little longer before adding him but in the interest of keeping the wife interested i bought it..... its her fish and shes really exited about it...

but she doesnt have a clue what all the feeding is doing to the system and me (carying water for water changes) to keep this one fish eating....

women!!!

And then she will eventually complain that you spend too much time on the tank.

alan was that the one with using a needle wheel pump as a feed pump? ihave plans in the future to do this with an OR2500.......

Okay, you may have to use a larger pump though as the 2500 wont push much water.

I made my own venturie on a king 5 and it worked like a charm, the needle wheels struggle to push against any kind of head.

i was thinking of mounting it at the entrance of the skimmer and having water the water from the overflow gravity feed to ot..... i just have quite a few more things to think about before doing this though....
