Leslies 5ft

not to get into a tang debate but my philosiphy is that if something is designed with a purpose and well thought out with the animals best wishes in mind and monitored its ok...

i am fussy with my tangs and watch and feed them frequently... i also remove them if there is conflict....

ok so due to work and a terrable heat wave and no chiller running i lost alot of my goodies... i am actually over the whole marine thing but my wife keeps making me feel guilty as our son kieren loves the tank...

i was going to chuck it, but the wife says NO!!!!

so i have pulled it all apart and am going to redo it...... again... my main reason for this is because the stand it was on started to warp due to an uneven floor.... and i was scared of the tank cracking at the base... my brother in law jody, has taken custordy of my yellow tangs and squiddy my clams... the remainder of what was eft of my match farm went to garth....

so i am in need of some encouragement.... thats where you guys come in....

so i will keep you posted when i am able to log on as i have also taken a position back at my old work and have very little time to be on anymore...

shotto les

Hey Les - just try and remember WHY you started in the first place - YES - I know - there's a LOT of crap involved. BUT people who LOVE tinkering with their cars, PERMANENTLY run into trouble - BUT, they just find another way of circumventing their problems....

So - (perhaps someone should sing this to you - won't be me, though ;-) - "Please don't go, don't gooooo...." (how ever that song goes) ;-)

As Sean said - JUST having that "magic touch" of getting your corralline algae growing so wonderfully, is definitely enough reason of why NOT to quite!

shotto guys i must say its going to be an expensive little redo..... still in 2 minds though...

the stand warped so thats got to be changed to a galvanised steel frame with a removable wooden exterior....

i need another 2 x OR6500 for the closed loops that are plumbed into a glass shelf with plumbing put in to steady pipes to flush detritus out from behind the rockwork....

and then plumbing.. or a heat gun to recycle what i have....

the list is endless....

Damn Les, How did you get your rocks to purple up so nicely. That is pretty damn awesome.

Sorry to hear about the stand Leslie - what's your stand made of at the moment?
Why do you HAVE to go OR6500's? Or is this what you would like to use? Why not a "cheaper brand"? Like Boyu or something? I am sure the Boyu's would also last a bit longer?

mmmmhhhh.....now look at that.cumon dude,hang in there ;)

guys the tank is dry and standing in my lounge.... thanks to load shedding , my busy work schedule and my son... i have resorted to surfing alot more now... i am still keen to start my tank up but there isnt any urgency..

i have a 60cm cubed nano with 2 royal gramma's and 2 ckarkii clowns with about 15kg's liverock and nothing else but 2 x seio M1500's running it no lights nada.....

what can i say im sad but cash and time dont allow me to have the luxury of a tank running right now...

thanks for all the kind comments and words of encouragement it is not unoticed.. unfortunatley i have limited interned acess these days so i only get a chance one in a blue moon to visit..

cheers for now les

OK - thanks, Les! Cool - many thanks for explaining - not that you had to :)
BUT - if and when, please keep in touch - even if it IS only once in a blue moon!

Cheers and good luck mate!
