Lactimar's small ocean

I found an old Jebao rw range power supply and now the mp 10 is running at the back of rockwork to try and stop detritus build-up.

So i tested my water for the first time now after a few weeks of running.

NO3- 50ppm (result of me collecting water on a bit of a stormy day)
PO4- 0.08ppm
Ca- 420
Mg- 1440
dKH- 7.6

Any advise or remarks

My nitrates also a bit high at the moment hence the refugium started and research on vodka dosing.

So added some corals. Prized ones so far are a golden wall hammer, pink wall hammer and a frogspawn. They are really something. Sorry sony takes stupid photos. Also added 4 goldies, midas blenny, longnose hawkfish and 2 banghai cardinals.

Nice Buddy, n paar beauties wat jy gekry het - Happy days :cheers2:

Anyone else that run bio cubes and how do you run them? I modified a phosban reactor with an airstone at the bottom and looks like it works. Just afraid the cubes arent getting enough airflow and contact with oxygen. So thinking maybe running them inside a second skimmer? Any input around this?

I used to run them in a reactor with a normal powerhead with a venturi. Worked very well but power failures were a problem. Then i also ran them inside a second skimmer. This was probably the best. But be careful with cubes. They work exceptionally well and you run the risk of stripping all the nutrients out. This was my issue as i had a light bioload. That was one of the contributing factors of the death of 90% of my corals.

Ill definitely keep that in mind thanks. Thats why i dont run to much of it at a time. Ill keep testing to keep up with the reduction they cause. Im also leaning towards the second skimmer but @qball said he can maybe build me a reactor with a venturi pump. Whats your take on that?

Why do you need someone to build you one? You can use a normal fluidised reactor and use a cheap pump with venturi. Most of the fluidised reactors should be able to take 1.5-2L of cubes. Just add it to battery backup.

I have a generator on the farm so that kicks in. I want to use a bubble magus reactor with the pump sitting underneath. Just saves space so turn that pump into a venturi pump with needle wheel impeller

Where would you place two gyre wavemakers in this size tank? I cant seem to get a nice flow going in the tank.

On another note:
Added a twin spot wrasse to the tank.
Added 1L of seachem matrix in a basket
