Joe's Dymax IQ5

Good day all. Apologies for the quietness.

The little tank is going strong. Before the December holidays I had a blue yellow damsel in there, he was very happy and maybe a little aggressive when my hand came close to the tank. I decided to return the damsel to the shop, as the tank would be unattended during December.

At the moment the residents are a blue legged hermit crab, and a slug or snail. The slug or snail appeared after the live rock and was 2mm long, it has grown to 20mm. I have been attempting to identify this slug. I will have to post a photo, as it is difficult to describe.

Over the Easter weekend on the North coast, I brought back some interesting pieces of rock with growths on. These have been placed in the tank, and I'm waiting to see what happens.
 
the slug is most likely a stomatella snail. More active at night.
 
Attached is the best photo I could take of the snail. Yes, he is active at night, and has two long 'feelers', and what looks like a hard shell similar to an abalone.

Yip, That looks like a stomatella. Good to have. Herbivore.
 
I did some landscaping and changes yesterday. Removed some shells and loose bits, and moved the rocks to make a small cave. I replaced the standard heater with a better quality one, and bought a backup water circulation pump. The result is in the photo herewith.

My intention is to add two fish. I need some help here deciding on small fish that would be suitable to this tank. My parameters are stable, and the the tank is settled in. What can you suggest?

Thanks Dot Dash, I went by the one marine shop we have in Nelspruit but no Yellow clown goby. However, there is a Lawnmower blenny, a nice small one of about 4cm. I've read that they are interesting characters. What do you think?

After looking at some members tanks, I will be doing some landscaping. I'll attempt to build height towards the back of the tank, and make more caves and hiding spots. Also keeping in mind that I'm really keen to get my hands on some Pulsing xenia, will be making a spot for it.

I've also realised that my hermit crab is not a Blue footed, but an Electric blue hermit crab (Calcinus elegans).
 
Here is the Electric blue hermit, I think I'm correct in the naming? Here he is tussling with a shellfish that's been in the tank since day one.

I did some building and landscaping today. My idea is to have a tall structure to the rear of this little tank.

I started with a dry old piece of coral, and cut this in half with a hack saw blade to make a flat base. Then with the offcut pieces I made a column and another small piece. At first I tried to superglue the flat pieces of cut coral together, but this did not work at all. Then I resorted to drilling small holes to fit a thin cable tie through. This worked very well and the structure felt sturdy. I fixed a vertical column to the flat bottomed base, and added an overhang on top.

I have added a piece with a few (maybe 9) polyps. It is placed at the very top of the vertical column so that it can get maximum light. The light source is a standard LED unit that came with the setup, it is not very bright. I've attached the polyps with string (dacron flyfishing reel backing), that's what the lumo yellow is.

As you can see I've been a bit active in remodeling this little tank. Added four snails, some macro algae, and a big feather duster / tube worm.

A few questions:
1. Does someone know the genus or species of the polyps? Would like to read up.
2. What kind of care does a feather duster / tube worm need?

Jo,where did you purchase the IQ5 tank?i was looking for one too
 
Thanks I called them yes they have stock,did you get the skimmer from them too?
