Jclaas' Personal Journey!

Nitrate and Phosphate to be tested as caulerpa growth isn't as fast as desired.

Pic of new lamp beige tried and what the mangrove and refugium look like at this stage.

Pool basket is full of left over matrix stones that will slowly be removed from system as there is enough rock and reactor is full of matrix stones.

It's been a week or so now that I have purigen running in a stocking in the overflow box as I couldn' t source mesh bags at the time. It looks like it's already reacting, but it's a bit hard to see as the stocking isn't white. I will get mesh bags and see if the purigen already needs a regeneration.

Reason being ro water tds was through the roof as ro chamber is open to the air. Ro chamber was cleaned and machine pre-filters replaced.I will also close the roll chamber to the air with a glass cover with tank connector for piping.

Old filters:

TDS now at 10 as there is a calcium carbonate cartridge on the machine.

Yesterday marked the start of a Boyu TL550 as I've promised the misses a bigger tank, but haven'the had a chance to build :).

Stand was a bit water damaged and so it was sanded down and given a fresh coat of paint with door stoppers to be fitted as feet to keep the water away.

Feet, more screws and new top fitted as I was too concerned about the old one as it was quite warped.

Tank was water tested and found to have one spot in question. Will be sealed today.

Stand all touched up and tip painted. Hoping to get the tank wet this weekend.

I was fortunate enough to pick up a Kelo LED unit for a good price, it was used on my holding tank while my main tank was being worked on. After the holding boyu was no longer needed I decided to give my refugium a proper light unit...overkill I know...but the results on my chaeto has been unbelievable. From this experience I learnt that yes, you can keep algae going with a low budget light, it thrives with good lighting.

Picture of the misses' rock wall aqua scaped for the Boyu and two terrorists in the tank with some coral also added to the tank recently which still needs to be photographed.

Quick pics of the corals back in the tank since ending carbon dosing. Let's hope the bit of algae and mangrove with good source water keeps the algae off the rocks this time.

Should probably get a better light for it and test nutrients again because as @Brendan6 mentioned the algae may be growing but it's not thriving. Nutrients last tested in August - NO3 10 ppm and PO4 0.5 ppm.

Nice refurbishment of the boyu stand Juan.

Chaeto will do an excellent job of removing those excess nutrients...the mangroves although look pretty I’ve never seen pull much excess nutrients from the system.

In light of the recent concern about the forum being quiet, I thought I will share with you this 2800X500X500 tank I did for someone out of 10mm.

Very nice...

Not sure how you going to get that up onto the stand though.

Thankfully that wasn't my problem, but it was on the stand and stocked by that weekend as the gents original tank had burst.

Wow that was fast. Very nice work. Like the black slicone tank too.

500 cube I did in 6 mm with black silicone for someone, tempted to do one out of 10 mm for myself after I just shut down my tanks.

1800X1000X600 tank base replacement I am busy with at the moment.

The tank was by accidentally dropped on the floor during another hobbyists' tank move.

Paint tins placed on the base for their own peace of mind.
