Hotdog's Maxed Out Reef 650

Return pump plumbing also completely sorted out now permanently, really have nothing to do this weekend:

Yip, seem to have degraded over time, it was only a crack that caused issues, it broke completely when I took it out today. Apparently the white ones are more UV resistant, will replace with them.

Yip the same happened to me. You must make sure you gt the white ones that are more UV resistant. With the debris sand that is in the water column it erodes from the inside.
Depending on age, you can maybe get assistant from LFS to use your quartz sleeves/ballasts etc and just pay for the new casing. Worth a try.

That might make sense to just get the casings. Going to plumb tank without the sterilizers today and then think of proper plan on where to use them.

Plumbing done, just needs to dry. Then sorting out of electrics might take a while longer:

I must say having to sort all this out the entire past weekend makes me question why I am still in this hobby. It does feel like work sometimes. Hopefully tank settles and I can start enjoying tank again soon.

Ordered some solenoids now to put on the top up line, will put it on timer so it only runs 2 or 3 times a day, will lessen risk of RO flood in tank if something happens again like with UV sterilizer plumbing.

Yes, 10 days daily tank transfer in plastic containers, meds depends on type of fish and condition of fish, could be Methylene blue, Kanaplex, Metroplex, Paraguard or Sterazin/Myxazin in extreme cases. Will quickly find a pic on my phone.

How many times do you transfer during the 10 days? And to qt say a small blue tang and naso tang what size container with how much water would you need?

I transfer every day, so 10 times. If fish have bad disease I sometimes transfer every 12 hours to make sure water quality stays up to scratch. If a small blue tang and small naso, around 20-30 liters should be fine, did 3 Yellow Tangs, a naso and 2 cosmetus wrasses in around 30 liters.

Had some issues the last few days, somehow cracked the sump (above waterline luckily), so fixed that hopefully. Then lots of microbubbles in tank due to return pump pumping a lot more water after removing UV sterilizers and all their elbows. So built a bubble trap from some spare acrylic I had lying around, hopefully it works, need to install tomorrow (SketchUp model not to scale at all):

I think scrubbers are sort of kicking in, nitrates around 50 now, and some good growth. Have quite a bit of white spot in tank currently, especially on the butterflies, think instability and a degree or 2 temp drop with UV disaster caused some stress, so need to be extra vigilant with changing filter socks and making sure ozone is working.
