Hi Afsal, Youre asking a lot here. This 'Live rock' is imported from the ex transvaal. It is sold as stuff proven to be 'heavy metal free'. Me i'm a bit of an old dog and I say this is clincker rock from a clay brickyard. In other words: Other people use it as filling or if no filling is needed they look for the cheapest place to dump it. It is very porous though and the little nunus love it. It does become live rock after some time.
Hi all, I have been working on the system a bit recently and after looking over what was posted the horribly scrappy looking light box in my sump just seemed a thousand times more horrible than before. I then made a new box that also isnt very smart, but it does look a bit more neat. I also added a 10w biolux tube to help with the algawe growth. this extra light seems to be making quite a difference, the cheato ball on the right side of the rock was on the left and I moved it to the current position. when moving a few strands was left on the sand. If you now look to the left of the rock you can see some cheato growing around the rock with the bigger part of growth behind the rock.
I went to Mission rocks on Sunday and had a lovely day. It seems as if the beach is recovering rapidly after the tidal waves earlier this year. The rock pools is full of life although not as good as before, but its only starting and can only get better from now on.
I caught 2 fishes that I should not have caught, but the temptation! One small 4cm eel with beautiful colors and a tiny Spotfin lion fish about 2 cm big. Because both is so small I put both in my tank and will leave them in the tank when I move the other stuff over to the bigger tank. The plan is to keep the existing tank as a predator tank.
I got some photos of the lion, not good photos because its so small you have to zoom in to see it.
yeah lionfish are really cool.when i use to keep them i use to catch o shoal of little blacktails and keep them in a 2ft tank, and feed my lionfish 1-2 fish thrice a week
