R.I.P.
I started my dsb recently and seeded it with sand From Sean Koekemoer plus a bit from my old tank. How long should it take for the dsb to start working?
:yeahdude:

Agreed - it also depends to a large extent on how much predation there is in the tank. Remember, a deep live sand bed absolutely requires a large population of worms and other sand-living critters to create a continuous slow water movement through the sand - without these critters the sand bed will work very well for a while, but it will ultimately crash.Depends on factors such as bacterial density to start with, bioload, nutrient load, husbandry practises, etc.
