Hi all
I have been dosing Kalk and calcium and I'm having the constant battle of the 2 fighting.my current dosing pattern is 25ml of mag 6 x a day. My alk Is 18mlocated 12 times a day and calcium 27ml 12 times a day.my levels are as follows
1. Alk 10.9
2.cal 390
3. Mag 1400
Please help as I would like to get my alk to 9 cal to 430 and mag to 1500.... I have a 1000litre system sps dominated. Should I rather go for a calcium reactor!

Mag is fine. Drop kh on doser slightly and you might see calcium go up. Make changes slowly

Why do you want those specific numbers?

Why are you dosing kalk and calcium?

Lastly.. what is your pH and what are the intervals between dosing?
Stop dosing anything and everything, except Kalk (by kalk i assume you mean calcium hydroxide, if yes how are you dosing it?)
Then dose only CaCl supplement manually to bring Ca up to 420. After doser switched off, and only kalk being dosed in ato, give it two days and see what has dropped and what the new levels are. Then manually bring them each up individually and work out a dosing regime to supplement daily consumption...
But on a 1000L sps dominated system, a calcium reactor is a no brainer.

Ph sits at around 8.5

Yeah bud the balance is out of sync, stop dosing. Let the Alk drop, calcium will increase slightly. Then balance the calcium and magnesium (roughly cal x 3 should be close to mag). Mag will drop the slowest...so increase your Cal manually until it reaches 450-460.

Things should then be easier to keep in balance.
