Arduino Powered Aquarium Controller Project

I've just got one, quite a neatly set out Dev Board, get it from Netram, they here in Pinetown.

screw it! Im ordering right now! :)
Its gona replace my Siemens LOGO! PLC

Just wondering... would it be a better idea to order the Mega 2560, does most of the instructions/tutorials online for the uno apply to the bigger board or should one start small?

go the mega...there are some changes you need to make (wiring wise) but easy
Mega will let you control heaps more

They also do a Ethernet pro board, based on the UNO I think, but with onboard Ethernet.

Most shields are comparable, but just double check.

Another thing to conceder that was pointed out to me, is that these are really dev (development) boards, so designed for flexibility, there the header connections are fine for testing/developing, but could cause problems later on, it would be best to ensure the system is 100%, and then either replace the header with a fixed bridge or design a new single piece board, after all livestock is not cheap!

Done, Order Placed and Paid For, plus got two pdf style books to help me out... this is going to be interesting... thanks for the info to all, especially thanks to kiwikid for this thread, never heard of this til i read about it here....
