The idea of a measuring device which handles both volumes and mass simulataneously is so profound for the dosing of certain aquarium additives that we are shocked this device is not being received with much more fanfare. The AquaMedic AquaSpoon is the first device of this kind to be made for the aquarium world and the device is*surprisingly*versatile, useful, and affordable.

The AquaSpoon measures volume, with the use of two interchangeable spoon-heads with a maximum of 50ml. At the same time that you are measuring a heaping spoonful of buffer, alkalinity or potassium, you can double check your measure with the built in digital scale which is also easy to tare. We don’t expect the AquaSpoon to have lab grade precision with its measurements but it seems like a heckuva lot more accurate than just heaping teaspoons into your tank.

Whether you are dosing dry additives into a large reef tank or minute liquid additives into your nano reef, accuracy in additives can be key to helping lock down the chemistry and mineral balance of calcium, alkalinity and magnesium. Furthermore, the captive fish breeders can use the AquaSpoon to help track the growth rate of their fish based on the amount of food being fed. Priced at meager $26, the AquaSpoon is one of those valuable aquarium fish room tools which may not see daily use but specialized reefers will find plenty of applications for it.
