Hi PPL

Once again im biz with another DIY led build.
Im useing 10w ebay leds again like my fuge led build.
Not useing 5 x 10w leds like the fuge build but 8x10w leds.
So this will be a 80w unit.

Planing to use only 2x 6500k (white) and 6xRoyal blue leds.

But with this one im adding 4 small fans to the led and one in the control unit like always.

Big heat sink and 4golden heat sinks holding the fans in place was baught on eBay.
The other 3 small heat sinks ontop of the unit was taken from broken computer ups`s.

Lets have a look.

serious build...

A Radion Gen 2 unit got one fan and is 135W. Not sure on the airflow you got with those fans, but the Radion standard fan is 32 cubic meters if I recall correctly. But OK, their housing helps to channel the air over the heatsink.

What is the air those fans move per minute?

HAHA.
Your asking me something i dont know even. haha

Im just thinking. COLD COLD and COLD.
Its actualy a normal vga replacement cooler fan with heatsink.
The complete unit dimentions will be +- 298mm (L) x 60mm (W) x 45mm (H)
So kindoff small, just long.

Dont see any specs on the fans.
But im gona see if i can just give them about 9v to run on, not the full 12v, so then they should be realy quite and last alot longer.
Also wana close it up with perspex so it should then channel the air right around the unit, then im only gona give the perspex chassis vents on the ends like ive done with my big led unit on my tank.

Ok ive marker out the led placement and drilled the holes.

Heatsink plaster

This is the heatsink plaster im useing to stick the leds to the heatsink.
The leds are only 20mm x 20mm so you can see the size of the heatsink plaster tubes.

And just to give you a better idea of how mutch you use.
Ive used ONE tube and it will still be able to stick another 3leds at least.
And with ONE tubes ive done all the leds on this unit and the previous one and also all the heatsinks on this unit and the previous one.

So they really go a long way.

I baught 10. WAY WAY to mutch.

@CW do you mind sharing your links to the equipment you buy. I am also looking at building a LED at some stage and would really appreciate it

Coral growth and aspecialy the growing of cheato and macro algea. They grow like mad on the current led.
The royal blues are about 15000k i think.
But i see i had 1 hybrid leds also left. they half 6500k and half royal blue.

Cos the royal blues are quit purple to the eye and the hybrids like normal blue to the eyes.

All of the stuff i used i baught on eBay.
Exept the chassis im useing for the control box and the cables.
Ohja and the second had heatsinks (like i said they taken out of old ups`s and pc components)
But tell me what your looking for then ill send a link.

Each led has its own driver, thats why the control box is a bit big.

Have a look and see theres 5 white leds (1000k and the rest royal blue)
 
Ok leds are soldered and cables on.

Fans also.

Man oh man these fans are quiet.
i took a vid.
Fans only getting 10v now.
Hope everyone can hear how quiet they are.

Is moisture a concern and if so will you cover the LEDS with a clear acrylic screen?

The leds has a clear silicone like protection over so moisture should not affect it but yes ill be closing up the unit with perspex cover and a clear panel over the leds for a splash guard aswell.

Leds done now i just need to go get some control boxes.

hi i have 3watt leds on my tank.so ive got a driver that drive 11 blue and a driver that drive 10x3watt white 15000kelvin.so ive got 32 3watt leds on my tank.dimensions 1.2x60x60.bt wana get me sun 10watt leds

I also built myself a big unit with 3w steavesleds.com leds but ive got 40 leds on.
And not just blue and white.

But these 10w leds will also work.
