Hi Fellow Reefers

I joined MASA last week so I thought I would tell you guys a bit about my tank and post some pic's as well.

My system is very simple:
Basically it's a standard 4ft tank 120x45x45
Sump is 90x30x50. The sump has live rock, DSB and a refugium
Lighting is 4 T5's 2xactinic and 2x15000k
Boyu skimmer 1400l/h
Boyu wavemaker wm3

It's 315l total system volume and it's been running for 8 months.

It's a Sps dominated system with lots of xenia, a couple polyps, a mini carpet anemone and an acanth.

Fish and inverts include:
1x Small Purple tang
1x Manderin
1x Royal Gramma
2x True percs
4x Cleaner shrimp
2x Clams
A bunch of hermits

Excuse the pic's these were taken with my phone. Need to learn how to take better pics, although I think a decent camera might help too, this is the best I can do for now.

stunning tank. I can say it looks stunning but even moreso if you are sitting invfront of it. This is the simplest run tank with exquisite corals and fantastic balance. Everythong is perfect and simply done.

This is a Beautiful setup, Love the secale Dude. The pictures don't do this tank any justice

Hi spsmad, i envy that secale, absolutely unique color youve got there!
Please take some pics of your sump & lighting...
Good job with a simple stunning tank!

thanks for all the encouragement guys. Thanks mandarinman for your kind words. I just wish I could take better photo's.

My idea with this tank was to see how simple a setup I could create, without compromising the quality of life for the inhabitants.
My maintenance regime is also simple, I do a 25l water change once a week, wipe the glass once a week and just top up with water as needed.

Underneath I have a 3 chamber sump, the first chamber consists of a couple pieces of live rock, where the overflow runs into, my skimmer is in the first chamber as well. The 2nd chamber is a refugium packed with various macro algaes and the final chamber has the uplift pump.

I do not dose anything, I have tried lots of additives, but none seem to have worked for my system.

Thanks guys. Ayoob thanks man.
Simple seems to be working well for me at the moment.

Ill try post some pics of the sump soon.

The Secale is my favourite, the pic doesn't really show it's colours, but it's a deep purple/blue with lumo yellow polyps it looks really cool under actinics. Ill try post some more pics later.

welcome! Wow dude awesome tank! How the hell do you manage keeping sps with 4 T5's and a boyu skimmer? My purples are not that intense and I have over 800w of lighting. You break the rules ;) .. well done on that! Your tank is extra special!

The tank is quite shallow. It's deepest point is around 40cm, so the lighting seems to be sufficient. I do sacrifice growth for colour, but, the tank is small so too much growth would cause other issues. The boyu skimmer is great, works brilliantly. I think on smaller systems they are good but on systems bigger than 500l they may not be as effective.
