Hi Guys,

Thank you for the welcome messages, like I said I am new to this and I have had a cube before but failed badly. I was reluctant to try again but after a long time saw all the advancements and decided to try a Nano to see if I can manage something small and make a success of it.
This is my idea and would greatly appreciate any input and advice from the seasoned salty's. It is a 50L Nano with a small sump setup. Sump will have some matrix, carbon and small DSB with cheato. No skimmer just weekly water changes.

I will remove the PVC elbow as overflow and rather use a slimline overflow.

Check what this young lad did on a TL550. From post 26
Gandalf TL550 - Page 2 - Marine Aquariums South Africa

Basically the same as my design. Although his overflow box is a lot deeper to allow the hood t still be used on the TL550. Those hoods slide down the back, bulkheads needs to be low enough.

Anyway, this is hidden a lot better with a black ABS sheet glued to the front.

Thank you for the input, I looked at @Gandalf tank, very impressive diy skills. I have read some of the posts and looked at the tanks and made a decision that I will try something else. Also see the importance of a skimmer better. But still want to start small with a nano. (fits more in my budget) I found one that does not look bad its called a Nuvo 16 and comes with a skimmer, pellet reactor, return pump and heater. What do you guys think of that nano. I would appreciate any comments.

I haven't seen one personally but they do seem to be well made and functional and are gaining in popularity both here and overseas.

I saw that one and I have struck a deal. I am picking it up on Saturday, cant wait...feels like xmas

Hi Guys,
I picked up the Innovative marine nuvo 16 and it came with skimmer and pellet reactor.

I have also picked up a better light: K4-60-SE 60cm x 11cm CREE Chips - No control with timer 60 Watt - 16000K

Also picked up some sand. Now question 1 do I run GFO in the reactor or carbon?
