So... I got Whitespot

Are you only doing 4 swaps in total?
depends on how you define it.

First swap from tank into buckets,
then 4 buckets swaps,
then last out of bucket into quarantine

Give total 10 days.

Mine went in on the 18th
Swaps on the 20th, 22th, 24th, 26th
then going to Quarantine on 28th.

So staying 10 nights in buckets.

A quarantine system.

If you can get your hands on an old scratched up Boyu TL550 that will be great. Especially if it still got its lid.

Simple hideaway spot.
Bioballs in filtration chamber.

biggish water changes, 20% to 30%

For hideaway places I like to use those ceramic hides they use for lizards. They are not porous, so easy to clean. Can leave them in the sun to dry out. Looks natural and the fish hides easier in there than in some random white pipe.

Skimmer, if you got one. Else you need bigger water changes.

When I do water changes, I do 40L to the smaller QT, and 60L to the larger QT.

My main system, can handle being overfilled with 40L. The sump can take that, providing you do not switch off the return pump while busy. So I overfill main system with 40L. Drain smaller QT of 40L. Refill smaller QT direct from main system with 40L.

Do basically the same for the larger system, but first only 40L, then another go on 20L.

It is a big job for me. For a 100L water change, I move 300L of salt water. Including the 100L RO water for the salt mix. Plus refilling the RO drum and my job is to move 500L water from one spot to the next... Luckily I do this normally on a Saturday afternoon and I can have a beer while doing that.

So my system is infected with ws- would it work to run an uplift pump from my sump through a uv sterilizer and have the same lph pump in my quarantine tank running back into the sump?

So water to the qt is sterilized and the water leaving should be fine as the fiah have all gone through the bucket system..

I will not connect an infected system to my clean healthy fish, no matter if it goes via UV or Ozone

You have to be sure that ALL gets killed.

WS minimum size is 25 to 60 micron.

5 micron will work.

So tomorrow evening im finished with the bucket system!! Fish going into quarantine as the ws is in my main tank. They have been in the buckets for what will be 10 days. How long must i have them in quarantine before i can be assured the ws is out of my system? Is it 8 weeks in total? I have some fake rocks for my new qs to help the fish stress less. I also will be using the std boyu skimmer on the system and 1 flow pump in the tank. Im wonderig if there is anything else i should add in terms of filtration? Bio balls? Should i dose special blend to help with nutrients? What type of husbandry would be recommended? I will be using ro water and adding salt for initial water as well as changes. Should i leave lights on/off? How should i feed? Any advice please- im quarantining a yellow tang, regal tang, 2 clowns, 2 hromis and a lawnmower blennie. None are particularly big- only the tang id consider med in size. Thanks all

6 weeks minus 10 days, 32 days, so 4 weeks would be OK

Filtration sounds good, bio-balls should help. Lights not really needed, if more than enough room light gets into tank.

Water changes weekly, and you can use special blend.

normal like in a fish only system. Would do 10% a week. Depending on parameters an effectiveness of the skimmer and filtration.

Feeding would be flakes. Normal routine.

filter sponge, just need to remember to rinse it often.

Bio balls, can at times, when needed, siphon the bottom of that chamber clean of any detritus.

Thanks @RiaanP when i change the fish over to the quarantine tank should i use some of the water from the bucket and drip the prepared water into the quarantine tank? Or drip them out of them out of the qt?
