Is there no space for a sump under the tank? If there is you could use a over flow box,

its a pretty small space alan,think around 12cm per pane

i really like the idea of having it drilled in the centre with a little square box around it as an overflow and then allow the rockwork to fill the base and head up to the top all around the tank,basically like a little pyramid.get the picture? have had this in mind for years but havent got down to it.but its time
