Hi, I have a 80cm x 80cm cube that is 70cm in height. I plan on using an Aquamedic Oceanlight plus fitting. This fitting has 1 x 150w MH & 2 x 24w T5's. The MH is a 20k should I use 2 x 10k T5's or are blue's fine? Also, can I run the 2 T5's for 12 hours & the MH for only 4 hours daily? I have SPS, LPS & softies.
 
Nothings wrong with that lighting unit ESP. I would suggest running the MH for 6 hours and the T5's for 12 hours, just to make sure the corals get the right amount of light they require.

Will I have a problem with heat, the light's gona be about 7-10cm off the water?

That's a bit close, can you not raise it higher? I have a 150w MH on my 60 x 60 cube that sits about 23cm's above the water and it still heats the tank up from about 25 to 28.
 
I had the same problem with heat. I have a 1000 X 500 X 500 with 150W MH, 4 X T5 and 2X LED units. I bought a 150mm table fan and just blow onto the water and the heat problem is gone. I would recommend that because I did the same with my previous 1,2m tank with a close canopy.

Thanks 4 sharing your experiences. It looks like I'll have 2 add a fan. The reason I don't want to suspend it is due to the tank being in the same room as the tv, the light will be too bright shining off the sides of the unit.

After lukin at fish for 25 years I need a bit of tv dude...LOL

I do hav an open canopy itz only 15cm high I'll raise the lite as much as possible.

If you go with the TV bracket idea we had then you can build an extractor fan into the whole magyver you would create. It will still look classy if you do it right
